Peak Wind Gusts This Morning
A High Wind Warning remains in effect until Friday morning for the eastern peninsulas into the Chesapeake Bay, and also along the Virginia Atlantic Coast, where the highest wind gusts have occurred this morning in the state. Here are some of the peak wind gusts recorded so far Thursday:
Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel 64 mph
Cape Henry 64 mph
Norfolk 59
Wallops 56
Portsmouth 55
Oceana 52
Lynchburg 39
Danville 38
Charlottesville 35
Richmond 35
Williamsburg 35
South Hill 33
Farmville 32
Emporia 31
Petersburg 30
In the Wind Advisory region, wind gusts should peak around 40-45 mph through early afternoon, and remain in the 25-35 mph range Thursday evening.
